30 years of resistance – 1991-2021
On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Women in Black-Belgrade activities, we organize a vigil in black and silence on Republic Square on 9th, October 2021 from 12:00 to 12:30.
On 9th October 1991 we rallied in the streets of Belgrade for the first time – from that moment we began our non-violent resistance to war and the policy of the Serbian regime. So far, we have organized over 2 500 street actions.
For 30 years, we have been building an active policy of peace - a policy of solidarity, mutual support, trust, above all with the victims of crimes committed in our name; we will not stop disturbing the authorities and the public with questions about the accountability for the atrocities committed in the past...
For 30 years, we have been trying to create space for the voices of women, as well as all those pushed to the margins, excluded from economic, political and social power, both in our environment and worldwide…
For 30 years, we have been trying to overcome all the barriers of hatred and evil, to reject all forms of nationalistic and militaristic policies, to we violate all consensuses of nation states, armies, churches…
For 30 years, we have actively built networks of solidarity beyond state and national borders and divisions, both throughout the area of the former Yugoslavia, and on all continents…
For 30 years, we have organized non-violent actions against militarism – regional and global; we have exposed the connection between war and poverty, between war and unlimited enrichment of groups close to the regime;
For 30 years, we have generated knowledge, creating alternative history, through equal appreciation of academic knowledge and activist experience; we have nurtured joint learning, reflection and exchange, in our environment and around the world ...
For 30 years, together with artists and art collectives (Škart, Dah Theater, MMC Art Clinic…) we have persistently insisted on the aesthetic shaping of anti-war anti-patriarchal resistance...
For 30 years, of feminism, non-violence, pacifism/antimilitarism, antifascism, anti-homophobia, alter globalism...
Still in the streets – always disobedient!
