STOP THE WAR IN NAGORNO KARABAKH!

On 7th October 2020 at 15:30, Women in Black organizes the anti-war protest „Stop the war in Nagorno Karabakhu“. The vigil in mourning and in silence will be held in Street Knez Mihailova in Belgrade.

The Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict over Nagorno Karabakh has been going on for thirty years. In recent days, it has escalated into a full-scale war, inflicting huge human and material losses. Like any war, this one mostly affects the civilian population, primarily women and children. Great powers, primarily Turkey and Russia, are involved into the conflict over Nagorno Karabakh, in the pursuit of their geostrategic interests, while ridign on the backs of both nations.

We strongly condemn the shameful and criminal export of weapons produced in Serbia, from which arms exporters profit the most. We demand that the export of weapons to both Armenia and Azerbaijan be stopped IMMEDIATELY and that arms exporters be sanctioned.

In accordance with our feminist-antimilitarist principles, we support:

  • UN Security Council Statement (29th September 2020) calling for an EMERGENCY cessation of hostilities and the start of negotiations;
  • All those in Nagorno Karabakh, Armenia and Azerbaijan who refuse to mobilize for war - conscientious objectors, deserters, anti-war activists;
  • Joint anti-war statement of young leftists from Azerbaijan and Armenia who condemn the armed conflict, nationalist hatred, militarization and instead advocate a peaceful solution to the conflict, dialogue, peace with justice, solidarity and coexistence.

Stop ratu u Nagorno Karabahu!
Դադարեցրեք պատերազմը Լեռնային Ղարաբաղում!
Stop the war in Nagorno Karabak!
Dağlıq Qarabağdakı müharibə dayandırılsın!

In Belgrade, 6th October 2020
