WE REMEMBER!

24 years since the beginning of the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Women in Black will be on April 6th 2016 from 3.30pm to 4.30pm, in Knez Mihailova Street, in Belgrade, to mark 24 years since the military aggression on Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina and crimes against peace and humanity.
On the same occasion, we will protest against the verdict of the Hague Tribunal that reward crime and humiliate the victims.

The aggression against the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina has been an integral part of the regime of Slobodan Milosevic. In the name of this policy and genocidal project of Greater Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina is occupied, and the army of the Republic of Srpska, aided (financial, military, logistical) by the regime of Slobodan Milosevic, has committed countless crimes - killed, expelled and taken away to concentration camps non-Serbs, looting material goods and other movable property, snatching and usurped their houses and apartments and attacked religious and cultural facilities ...

Unfortunately, victims of serious crimes still have not received justice. Some judgments of the ICTY (especially Perišić, Karadzic, Seselj ...) encourage impunity for crimes, offend the dignity of victims and survivors. There is an open fear of prejudicing the already fragile regional stability and the outbreak of new conflicts. Those judgments lead to the strengthening of nationalistic and militaristic climate in the whole region, deepening ethnic and any other intolerance.

These judgments show that the institutional justice on the national and international level is insufficient, that the key factors of the international community were sacrificed justice in the name of the interests of geopolitical calculations.

Women in Black, despite of the obstacles, challenges and awareness that in Serbia present a distinct minority, here and now and in the whole region will:

- Continue to create new ways of serving justice;
- Continue to strengthen the solidarity community of victims above and beyond national and ethnic borders and divisions;
- Continue to apply pressure on the institutional and legal system at the international and national levels for the revision of unfair judgments;
- Continue to insist on dealing with the past, Serbia's responsibility for the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and speak out against the denial of crimes, because this is the path to a just peace and regional stability.
