NO MORE PROHIBITIONS, VIOLENCE AND FEAR
Premier Vojislav Koštunica and part of the Government supporting him forbade peace march and performance, planned for March 8th, sending us the message he does not respect fundamental civil rights and freedoms.
We, Women in Black, refuse to accept prohibitions, atmosphere of fear and covert state of emergency the state produces and imposes to citizens. Civil freedoms and rights have been violated in Serbia for some time already, and one of the proofs for that claim is the act of civil solidarity of over 50 civil society organizations and democratically oriented parties from the whole Serbia, which supported our registration of action “March 8th – Postponed”.
The solidarity expressed shows that we do not accept roles of servants and vassals of the government, but consider ourselves as free thinking citizens.
Therefore, we will hold the action “March 8th – Postponed – No more prohibitions, violence, fear! Free citizens, never servants!” on March 15th, at 12 o`clock at the Republic Square and show that we can not be frightened.
