"Public presentation of Women in Black activities due to tenth anniversary of the 1325 Resolution"

Women in Black, in cooperation with Art Clinic and Skart, have marked tenthanniversary of the 1325 Resolution "Women, peace, security".

In front of the Serbian Assembly we had antimilitary action We shall return the tank, as homage to all the rebels of war and violence.

Vladimir Živković who was forcibly mobilized, in the autumn of 1991, brought the tank in front of the Assembly of the former Yugoslavia, in protest against the war in former Yugoslavia,. He was removed immediately and only one photo testifies of this act of civil courage. Only some forgotten photos and news prove it. It was a different voice which testified on rebellion, return of many of reservists to Kragujevac, Gornji Milanovac, Kosijerić, Rača, Smederevska Palanka, Bogatić ect. It was also the voice that raised the questions of patriotism, betrayal and desertion in `non-existing` war. This question is still most important issue. We do not know even today if those reservists are ashamed, or do they have the aura of hero and civil courage; we only want to emphasize that everybody is still silent upon this.

As a part of the peace initiative of Women in Black "Women ask" we delivered to all the members of the Parliament postcards with questions about the consequences of the war during the nineties. These postcards comprise of nineteen questions. On the front side of the postcard, there is a tank. They are in the proper envelopes and addressed to deputy groups and independent deputies.

By choral speech we referred to institutions of Serbia with the demand to get the answers to the questions regarding war, mobilization, and violence against women, as war consequences. During the public presentation “From traditional to feministic security concept”, in Media centre, we again sang – we repeated choral performance 'Women ask'.

After this part, we presented movies: `Militarization of Women in Black street actions` (lasts 7,19’), `Women, peace, security-1325 Resolution-tenth anniversary` (lasts 12’) and “Policy of active solidarity-in five images”(6,12’), all of them produced by Women in Black. At the end we have promoted our new books `Researching the peace in our time` prepared by prof. Dr. Dragana Dulić, as well as `Women, peace, security-1325 Resolution-tenth anniversary”.
